LOS ANGELES - Mike Myers’ “The Love Guru” has found some disciples among Razzies voters who pick Hollywood’s lowest achievements.

And Paris Hilton is getting her own Razzies moment with three awards all on her own at a ceremony that spoofs the Academy Awards on the eve of the Oscars.

“The Love Guru” won three Razzies on Saturday for worst picture, actor (Myers in the title role) and screenplay, which Myers co-wrote. Hilton’s three prizes are worst actress for “The Hottie and the Nottie,” supporting actress for “Repo! WASHINGTON - Barack Obama wants to cut the federal deficit in half by the end of his first term, mostly by scaling back Iraq war spending, raising taxes on the wealthiest and streamlining government, an administration official said Saturday as the president worked to finalize his first budget request.

Obama’s proposal for the 2010 fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 projects that the estimated $1.3 trillion deficit he has inherited from former President George W. Bush will be halved to $533 billion by 2013. Read the rest of this entry »

Newcastle filmmaker Genevieve Clay has won Tropfest 2009 with her short film Be My Brother.

The 20-year-old took out the top prize at the 17th annual awards in Sydney for her story about a young man with Down Syndrome.

Clay, who works for the ABC’s JTV, fought back tears as she accepted the award from actor David Wenham.

Police say the boy shot Kenzie Marie Houk, who was eight months pregnant, once at point-blank range in her farmhouse in western Pennsylvania.
